To many peoples surprise, at ESUG we have discovered that the Smalltalk/X group have made a working Ruby 1.8 implementation called SmallRuby on top of their existing Smalltalk/X VM, complete with tools. This is amazing, although I don't know if there are limitations. I do know that their performance specs are very impressive. I'll need to find out more while I'm here.
