I've had a Playstation 2, a Wii and now I have a Playstation 3. I should say, I've had a PS3 for about a year now and I'm ready to get rid of it. I left my Wii with my sister, I like the Wii but it's not brilliant and I sold the PS2 after owning it for about half a year.
I play games, I play games on my PC.. where I have the mouse and keyboard combo, high powered graphics card, fast CPU to reduce load times and many more advantages. This point was driven home to me with Fallout 3, a game I absolutely love. I played it through twice on the PS3 and recently I discovered some comparison screenshots.. it was the classic "XBox 360 vs PS3" argument, but they also threw in the PC screenshots.
I wanted the DLC for Fallout 3, which will soon be coming to PS3, but has been out forever on the PC and 360 platforms. So I figured, it's time to see how the game would have been on PC.. I bought it again. I tell you now, I'll never buy another game on the PS3, not after Ghostbusters and now Fallout 3. The quality on the 360 and PS3 are just shameful compared to what I get out of my PC.
So I thought to myself - if I'm not buying games for the PS3.. what else do I do with it? Bluray? ... well SD cards and internet downloading pretty much squelch that right there.. since I've owned my PS3 I've bought -one- whole Bluray disk. One. So clearly Bluray is not a winner.. how about hiring movies? Sure, except that the movies appear sooner on the Apple TV.. the Apple TV is no saint, but if the only point of owning a PS3 is to hire/buy movies,.. that's pretty sad.
So, the slot in my entertainment unit where the PS3 lives is going to be empty soon.. the PS3 offers me nothing and certainly the 360 wouldn't offer me anything over my PC gaming experience either. Consoles are done for me now - there isn't ever going to be a shiny-new-console that I'll want to buy ever again.
