I'm running at a basal rate of 1.4/H, a bolus of 1:5 and a correction of 1:21. I'm trying to track how successful this is, but my average bgl over the last 12 days is 149mg/dl (8.2mmol/L) and these last few days, it's felt more like 120mg/dl.

As for the magic ratio? no where in sight. I use anywhere between 70 to 100 units in a day and only 34 of those go in to the basal.

My correction rate over the last 12 days has been 7% of my insulin, which on the whole isn't too bad right now.

Two big bonuses to using the pump:

  1. Micro adjustments to my bgl - corrections are very cheap, just test the blood and bolus with 0 grams of carbs and you're adjusted.
  2. The other day I was out and about, I knew my daytime bgl was being constant, I came across a hotdog place and bought one, bolused without checking my bgl and ate.. three hours later, my bgl was still perfectly fine. Now that's a good reason to get yourself a pump right there.. random unplanned eating.
