I was just re-watching a Croquet movie and thinking about Second Life and Croquets new capabilities. There has always been something that bothered me with the Croquet movies - the way they turned a portal and it changed what you saw on the other side of the portal. Today I figured out what that disturbed me so much.
The answer was really quote simple. If I set up a mirror portal for you to enter my home through - a door way say.. and you have your portal in your space to enter my portal.. and you turn it.. and you can see other angles in my realm, that means my doorway must be turning in -my- realm. What the? - that means you can turn it 180 degrees and walk in to solid brick right?
You should be able to orient your portal in your space however you want.. but it should only show you the view that is fixed from -my- side of the portal. If you want a different view, you'll have to get permissions to change the orientation of the portal on -my- side of the portal.
