I just got my hands on an advanced copy of the RunBasic Personal Server. If you've never seen RunBasic, it's Basic, but in your web browser!. RunBasic is a Seaside application built by the guys who made LibertyBasic. It's really quite fun to be able to program in Basic again, but this time on the web.
But now they're preparing to launch a personal server - an easy downloadable that sets up a personal server on your own computer so you can use RunBasic anywhere, server it up from your own web server and it includes a really simple "Publish" capability to push out your program in a published polished form.
This truely is basic for the web - and the wonderful thing is it will probably end up looking transparently like a regular web app - yet its basic on the backend. The installation came with sqlite3 too but I didn't give that part of it a go. I don't know what the personal server will cost yet, but I'm quite curious. I grew up programming basic (I graduated to assembler, C, Pascal, SQL ...) so I'm loving what they're doing.
Keep up the good work guys!
