I thought I might do a little expose` on Travis Griggs. I'm sure he'll hate me for this, but I figure he deserves it. I know he deserves it because I'm just like him. Yes! We few - Tools People!

Travis seems to name all his ideas as 'Extra This' or 'Extra That'. Curious :) Well, here's the ones I really like that he's made:

• ExtraIcons - This is great, shows you edited, unedited packages, bundles, as well as giving you coloured vials to tell you which tests have passed or failed.
• ExtraEmphasis - This is practically core in VW these days. It adds a heap of Font stylings as well as the ability to have styles that are actually images. RBCodeHighlighter uses it to show a STOP sign wherever you've dropped a debug icon - that's a ExtraTravisism too :)
• ExtraActivity - This is Travis's latest toy. This one is meant to allow an easy way to make 'active' objects in VisualWorks, sort of the way morphic lets it be done in Squeak. I have no idea how this will pan out, or if it's even a good idea :)
• Other stuff Travis has done. He added Goto's to VisualWorks. I'm a guilty part to this, as I helped test it out and offered ideas and wrote up a piece on it for comp.lang.smalltalk. He did benchmarking for my HigherOrderMessaging implementation for VisualWorks. And he's made an 'extra' prerequisite calculator for packages in VisualWorks.
